The Sajjadanashin (hereditary administrator) also refers as Khalifa (a successor) is the descendant of a Sufi or Pir and in some instances descendant of a disciple of a Sufi, A Sajjada particularly tends to the shrine which is made over the Sufi's tomb or grave, known as a Dargah or Mazar. A sajjada is a key person who held and leads the traditional Sufi rituals in Dargah's daily activities and particularly during Urs—(death anniversary).
The Sajjadanashin (Gaddinashin) Sahib Known as "Sajjadanashin Sahib" is thus the direct descendant of Hazrat Khwaja Garib Nawaz (R.A) as has been recognized,which came into existence in 1863 AD. The Present Dewan Sahib Sheikhul Mashaeikh Dewan Syed Zainul Abedin Ali Khan Sahib is the direct descendant of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti R.A, in the twenty second (22nd ) generation. Khwaja Saheb is the eleventh (11th ) generation descendant (Great Grand-son) of Hazrat Imam Hasan Alaihissalam R.A. and the fourteenth (14th ) generation descendant of Hazrat Imam Hussain Alaihissalam R.A.. Dewan Syed Zainul Abedin Ali Khan Sahib is the twenty ninth (29th) successor or Sajjadanashin (Gaddinashin). He is popularly known as the "Dargah Dewan" or "Dewan Dargah Ajmer". "The Sajjadanashin (Dewan Sahib)" is the son in the descending time of Khwaja Garib Nawaz (R.A). The first (1st ) Sajjadanashin was Hazrat Khwaja Fakhruddin Chishty R.A., who is eldest son of Khwaja sahib. Since that the tradition of Sajjadanashin are in force in the descendency of Khwaja sb as per rule of primogeniture.
